Andy Freeman

LPC | Licensed Professional Counselor

Hello! My name is Andy Freedman, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Music Therapist. I have been working in the mental health field for over a decade, with extensive experience working with individuals and groups. I have helped children, adolescents and adults navigate the challenges they face with trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, and more.

People come to therapy for many different reasons, and no two journeys are the same. "What can therapy do for me? Is change possible?" What if we took that curiosity and kept going with it? What might you find along the way? Whatstrengths were there all along? Therapy doesn't always need to feel like surgery. Often the tools you need are already within reach...they can just be hard to see. Let's turn on a few lights and look at what is there. Seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, but right where you are is the perfect place to start!

I like to tailor the therapy to the style and preferences of the client. I have a degree in music therapy from Drexel University and facilitated music therapy groups for ten years, as well as individual work. I like to utilize IFS (Internal Family Systems) to help a client get acquainted with their inner selves in a non-pathologizing way. I also like to use DBT to improve the quality of everyday life with just a few behavioral hacks. Above all, I like to take time getting to know the client and use our therapeutic alliance to seek change, acceptance, or whatever it is that may be needed. There is also no need to rush things. We can work together to set a pace that feels safe and right.

I accept Aetna, Cigna, Highmark & Optum/United insurances.

I am available for in-person sessions at the Northern Liberties location, as well as teletherapy.
